Question square or landscape - 12-14-2007, 01:11 PM

So I guess this question would go in Post processing, but it's just about cropping. I have this square photograph, taken with a Zeiss Icon folder. Sometimes I like it full frame, because it makes the town look small in the space of the mountains, with a big sky. But then sometimes I like it cropped into landscape format, because it makes the buildings in the town more noticeable. I just can't decide. What do y'all think?

square looks more like a portrait of the town than the horizontal, which looks like a snapshot (all be it a good one).

I thought bringing the town closer might work.

More Foreground - 12-15-2007, 01:16 AM

Tom,

I would crop it horizontal but leave enough of the mountains and sky in the background, to keep the setting. Unlike Richard I would leave more of the foreground to keep the town in perspective.

Thanks for the input everyone. I was wondering about doing it almost like a panorama too, so all your suggestions give me something to think about.
