This is a discussion on before and after within the Post Processing Central forums, part of the Photography Information category; just an example of some processing. now if I can figure out how to put texture back in after smoothing....

Nice work. It doesn't even look like the same person. For texture I usually bring up the original layer by lowering the opacity of top fixed layer. But your shot looks like her shape is completely different also.

Another method would be to use the healing/history brush with opacity set low.

Ricardo, how are you doing my friend? We miss you here. I ditto the original lyer method. That is what I do and you can control the amount of texture that goes back into it that way. Take care.

another way i have found to be useful is if you isolate the skin using quick mask then cop it to a new project then save as a photoshop document with just the skin. you can then open your corrected version and apply texture for which it will let you use the document you just saved and they will match perfectly

I pretty much use either an original layer and change opacity with the smoothed layer... Or.. I use the patch tool/etc and just "Fade the tool" as I go along.

For the most part though, I just make sure and use layers and adjust opacity... Pretty easy and effective.
