proof DVD ??? - 12-18-2007, 09:31 AM

I was thinking of getting a small DVD player ... they are down to $50 or so … and using this as a proof book with the proofs burned to a DVD.

My question is … does anyone do this? –and- what program do you use to create the DVD?

I would like to get a simple program that will create this “proof DVD” and create a nice final DVD slideshow.

I would appreciate any recommendations
thanks

I haven't been using a DVD player for proofing, but for creation of the DVD itself I really like Photodex's Pro Show Producer. It will allow you multiple out put options, timeing of slides, addition of music and some great effects. Take a look at it here.

Don't know much of what to do for a 'proof DVD'...I've never tried that. For slideshows, if you have a mac I'd recommend giving iMovie/iPhoto a test run. It can work well, but isn't for everyone...it's not as customizable as some more specific slideshow programs.

I like Pictures2Exe at www.wnsoft.com. You can put together slideshows with it. You can add buttons that link to order sites. You can allow or disallow printing and saving from it.

People in the wedding video biz have been doing that for awhile. Mainly because, many peoples older DVD players would have issues with burned DVDs on occasion.

I have seen iPODs given out as well.

Pro Show Gold plays on my old cheapo DVD player in the bedroom :) I make them as extras or for friends. You could proof that way for sure and it is not expensive.

Last year for Christmas my husband bought me a small (screen is 12 x 9 inches) tv with a dvd player in it. I do slide shows and it is easy to carry around. the problem is the photos are not very clear. I would hope maybe a hd scrren would be clearer, but at what cost??

You'd also have to have a player capable of showing HD material and a HD recorder (ie, BlueRay).
