PhotoShop Preferences keep resetting to Default - 12-19-2007, 11:39 AM

Not sure if this is the best forum to ask this question but need to ask. Here at work we have an ongoing minor headache of Photoshop Preferences resetting to the Default settings about once a month. I work at a government facility and I have been told that about once a month is when IT pushes through the big updates from Microsoft and some other programs.
What I need to know is, Is this NORMAL??? Does anyone else in the corporate world have this issue?? It isn't affecting production here, but it does mean going in and selecting preferences on a regular basis.
Any ideas/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

By any chance are you changing your display settings during these updates?

Photoshop will assume you have a new setup if the resolution, number of displays, or display driver updates occur since you last used the program. I used to have the same issue if I start PS on my laptop with and without the external display attached. It's odd, but the expected behavior according to Adobe.

Hope that helps!

Scott,
Unfortunately, this is happening overnight after we leave for the day. It is probalbly something like the drivers that is being updated but we have no idea when it will happen. Of course there is no announcement that changes might happen, we are just told to log out and leave the computers on over night.
Appreciate the response though.. it confirms what I was thinking might be going on.
