Resizing for Flyer - 01-03-2008, 02:59 PM

So Im looking at making some flyers for real estate on PS CS2. I am trying to drag pictures onto the back ground I made but when I do they are way too big for the 8.5X11 page. Is there an easy way to resize them?
when I go to edit>image size it will resize the back ground but not the pic I inserted? Im not used to this program yet at all.=(
Thanks

Can you not just grab the corner of the picture and drag them to the size you want them to be. I would think you would have to be working with layers, so you would select that layer and drag it to the size you want.

If you image is on it’s own layer … easy … Edit – Transform – Scale

I’m using PS7 but I think it’s the same

Give this a try.

Drag the photos onto your background then EDIT>TRANSFORM>SCALE. Grab one of the edges and resize while holding down the SHIFT key.

After dragging the new picture into your second window, then that new image becomes a separate layer. Highlight that new layer, then you have several options.
Image->Image Size and specify the exact dimensions you want, or,
Edit->Free Transform (if you don't want to keep the same perspective)
Edit->Transform (if you DO want to keep the same perspective)
Resize the image layer as you like...
Hope this helps...?

When you drag the pictures onto the background. Select the move tool from the pallet and be sure the "Show Transform Control" check box is checked. This will place handles on your object. To transform and maintain aspect ratio, press "shift" while dragging the corner handle.

Thank You Guys! I kept going to image size and it kept changing the back ground. Who would have thought it was in tranform scale? Thanks again!
It is very frustrating going to all your how to books and still finding nothing. ARG!

One more note. Sometimes you can't see the handles of the image you want to size down using transform (Ctrl-T) because they extend beyond the canvas you are working on. When that happens you can press Control-0 (that is Ctrl-zero) while the Transform is active and the canvas will shrink to a size where you can see all the handles on the Tranforming image.
