Apple Aperture Software

I am going to be getting a IMAC in a few weeks and looking at software. So being a newbie to this, is this a tool that can be used alone or is it used in conjunction with CS3.

Thomas, I use Aperture to maintain and edit all my photos. I use PS CS2/CS3 to use some plug-ins that I've purchase and only work in PS. But, it's so easy to go between Aperture and Photoshop. You just right click "Open with external Editor" and you're in. When you save the images it saves right back into Aperture.

I use both Aperture and CS3. I find I can't do everything in Aperture.

You can get a 30-day trial of it and see if it would do everything you need. I am in the middle of a 30-day trial of Lightroom (similar to Aperture), and I have found it does everything I need. For what it's worth, Lightroom also has a 30-day trial, so you may want to check that out as well.

Both are available with a substantial academic discount if you are a student or educator.
