How to... (Moving into a Mac) - 01-22-2008, 10:05 AM

So I have given up on Winders, I don't want this to turn into a Win vs. Mac thing. Please!

Does anyone remember how to create the action that automates your logo to your image.

I seem to remember seeing some time ago, maybe about a year, a thread about this very subject.

Also, just out of interest, can any of my settings, like the above, "actions", "workspaces" etcetera carry over from the windows to Mac? Or must I recreate the whole environment?

In the mean time I will keep looking...

Thanks!

There are many different ways to make a logo action, but some methods depend on the original format of your logo. In my case I have a vector based file that was created in Adobe Illustrator. I created my action from the video on Russell Brown's site: http://www.russellbrown.com/tips_tech.html

QT movie: http://av.adobe.com/russellbrown/BrandingSM.mov
Action script: http://www.russellbrown.com/images/t...Action.atn.zip

Have fun!

Scott, I knew you would come through, that is the one! Thanks!

What about other settings that I mentioned? I take it they will not cross over, due to DOS/Unix - Win/Mac shells?

You can certainly export your actions, however there may be issues with path names if you're doing non-generic things like placing a file or saving to a work directory. Other generic actions with photoshop core features will be fine. Some filters may not react well across platforms, but again that's dependent on the individual filter itself.

I've never tried to save a workspace across platforms. Due to differences in the underlying OS, I don't think it's possible but it doesn't hurt to try.

Have fun. Which Mac are you getting?

I got it... and already love it!

What I got is the Mac Book Pro 17" Non Glossy High Res Screen, 2.6Ghz, 200 GB hard drive (7200 RPM), with 4 gig-o-ram.

I have done the Adobe Cross Platform agreement and it was time to upgrade lots of software so I did the side grades at the same time. This was all good timing for me. Not to mention that I am slow right now.

Nice machine. I have the 15" glossy 2.4GHZ 160GB 2GB version. Love it!

Welcome to the Apple fold!

How do you set the print drivers to turn off the print management so I can let PS manage my prints?

Never mind... I figured it out late last night. I have to stop thinking "Windows" and start thinking Mac.

Thanks!
