saved layers - 01-23-2008, 10:21 PM

This is a dumb question Iknow...maybe I've even read it somewhere..I thought when you saved a file in psd, it would save it so I could see what I did to it...??? It's just showing one layer and doesn't give me a clue as to what I did??

It should save them.
History, OTOH, is not saved.

History on the other hand is not saved. you should see the layers as long as you didn't flatten your file.

As long as you save the image in PSD format without flattening it, the layers will remain intact. However, the History steps will not be saved.

I take it back. Both Layers & History can be saved.
Check your General preferences for History.
Also when you save a document with layers, it will automatically propose PSD file format.
In the save dialog box, make sure that layers are checked to save the layers.

Note: OTOH = On the other hand

I'm not sure for Windows, but on a Mac, you simply press Apple+comma to get to your preferences setting. Try CTRL+comma?
For Layers, make sure that when you save as PSD, that the layers box is check so that it will save the layers, and like Joe said, don't flatten the image.

I've got that part..the layers thing...I just want to be able to save the history. I will look into it...after looking at the history of post processing, I realized I did portraiture plug in...thanks for teaching me something new!

Save History = Make Action

That way you can apply that History (Action) to other Images.....
