Licensing on both PS CS3 and Lightroom are very similar and on this issues the same. You can install either of these programs on two machines. However, there are catches to those two machines. For example, you can install it on your main desktop and a mobile (laptop) machine. What that means is, you are using one or the other of the machines at any given time.
The TWO installs doesn't allow you the option of having TWO working machines at the same time. That requires TWO licenses. (I asked Adobe that very question to be sure.) They did say that I could install the programs on two desktops, say one at my studio and one at my home, so I can work at the studio then when I go home I can work at home.
The license allows the flexiblity of having multiple machines, for ONE license. If you have two machines that are in use at the same time doing processing work, then that is a violation of the licensing agreement. Each of those machine must have a sperate copy (license) to be legal.
You can deactivate your copy of PS and LR on the old machine, however and still have two installs left on your activation. Just Open PS/LR and go to Help, Deactivate and follow the directions, BEFORE you install the program on the new machine. Then you should remove PS/LR from that machine as it is only taking up space and isn't licensed.
I have multiple image machines in my studio, and have three licensed copies of PS CS3. For my laptop, I used the second install of one of the copies of PS as I carry that and work with photoshop occassionaly, but I don't use it in the studio. My machine at home also has a licensed copy of PS on it as I work from home sometimes when I have machines working at the studio.
