lookup "i suck at photoshop" on youtube. I think the #2 describes putting a cat into a bag, kinda like what you want :).
They are funny, but it might actually help....

It might help to post the two pictures so we can get a visual of what you are trying to accomplish.

Try this.
Open the Hawk picture in photo shop
Click Select at the top
Click Color range in the drop down
Click on the background ( not the hawk )
Some of the picture will be white this is the area you are selecting
play with the fuzziness slider to get more white
when all of the hawk is black and most of the background is white
choose the eyedropper on the left with the + next to it and click on the gray dots in the white area.
Once it looks like most of the hawk is black and most of the background is white choose ok
you should now have a selection
Go back up to select and choose invert because you want the hawk not the background
choose one of your selection tools ( Tool in the top left corner of your tools pallette )
right click on the hawk and choose Layer Via Copy
Open the windmill picture
click on the hawk and drag him to the windmill picture.
You may still need to resize the hawk to make him smaller
if so go to Edit -> Transform -> Scale
then click one of the corners and resize him
If you hold down shift while doing this the proportians will remain the same

There are probably 30 diffrent ways to do this one thing in photoshop so their might be an easier way. But that is the way that came to mind first

Playing with it an easier way might be
Open both pictures
Click the hawk picture
Press control + A
Press control + C
click the windmill picture
Press control + V
make sure the hawk is selected in the layer pallette
In the drop down on the layers pallette that says normal
Drop it down and choose pin light
You may need to paint with some black paint on the hawk......and you still may need to resize it like you did in the previous example
( this wouldnt work everytime but because it is a siloutte it works fairly well )

maybe some highlights on the bird to make it "fit" better... The windmill looks fine, but the sunrise lighting doesn't match. Nice sunrise!
