Anyone have either a tried and true manual way of doing this or a plugin/action?
I know that nik effects pro has it but I haven't bought that package yet.

Saw this in another forum...

convert to LAB. Decrease saturation (hue/sat), increase contrast by decreasing shadow, while increasing hilight in L*, push midtones. Push color towered green and blue. Decrees A for green, B for blue.

LAB allows you to adjust contrast without adjusting color (L* channel) while adjusting color without adjusting tonal contrast (A and B).

The numbers are:
Saturation -50
Curves:
L: Shadow: 15/10 Midtone: 45/55 Hilight: 75/90
A: 0/5
B: 0/8

White and Blackpoint left alone, you will likely need to tweak these settings for your subject. First number is input, second output. Choose a portrait with light skin and low contrast.

Patti

Thanks, Patti... I'll give it a try.
I'm very familiar with lab color so this shouldn't be TOO hard.

I tried this on a couple different images, and it's getting there but still a long way to go. I think there is more to it.
