PS hoax? - 02-25-2008, 11:24 AM

A picture was posted of a vehicle in Iraq supposedly. I think it's a PS job but don't have any way to really tie it down here at work. Hope to try some overlays when I get home but so far this is all I have.
Maybe someone can tell me if there is any exif info on this (no exif reader here at work).

Any help appreciated..

Here's where I think the vehicle picture that was pasted into the above shot came from..

Some very subtle differences

front tire in the top photo looks identical the back tire in the bottom photo
Look at the position of the front tire to the fender, shadow across the mirror on the hood, shadow angle between the back wheels, etc.

The exif data is stripped from both images. The front wheel on the drivers side appears to be turned outward slightly more in image #2. I could be wrong, but, that's what I think I see.

Thanks for that info. I thought the front wheel from the top had been pulled from the back wheel of the bottom. Tire is in exact same position (including tread) relative to the front bumper in both shots but the rims look different. I thought someone had grabbed the rim of the back tire and moved it to the front...
I was going to try overlaying front/back tires to see if the rims matched this evening.

they do look very similar, but there are small differences, which of course could be PS'ed. but why would someone go through the trouble? is this an important shot for something? just wondering....

It's a PS composite for sure. A few very slight differences but too many exact details to be coincidental.

It's an important shot alright. To a stock trader it could mean thousands of dollars..
It's a special vehicle that some say the Army won't buy and some say they will. It's the future of a specific company that makes them. A real picture of one in Iraq would be HUGE. Some small fortunes could be made if that photo where REAL.
What puzzles me is the effort a few have made to try making people believe it is.. Day traders I think.. Personally I'm considering it a hoax.

shadows seem to give it away as well... shouldn't be light under the big truck I would think.

But I wonder why someone would bother.

Both the Buffalo and Cougar have been in operation for several years so what's the big deal.

100% photoshoped... I'd bet the farm on it. The light defractions are identical which is almost impossible to do.

If you zoom in on where the turret would have been added to the photo, at the back corner where the bottom of the turret is white, you can see a gap where the mountain behind it looks like it shows through between the turret and the top of the vehicle.

Is it just me or do I see some smoke coming from a grassy knoll on the left side of the photo?

If you look at the tread to the front tire with the sidewall from the rear tire pasted over it, you will see that the outside tread is reduced by the additional sidewall. Definitely a Photoshop job. The dust on the tread just seals the case. Overall not a totally bad job. What is the old saying, "Anything to make a buck!"
