ARGH. CS2 + OSX 10.5.2 = No work. - 02-25-2008, 07:28 PM

So, as of the end of last week my copy of CS2 is no longer working. Whenever I attempt to start PS-CS2, within the first 30 seconds of running it immediately crashes without warning whatsoever. It will not launch whatsoever, from Lightroom, from the Finder, the Dock... I've completed the latest OS update, and Software update shows no available updates.

This is all well and fine, I can do curves, editing, even light cloning in Lightroom but at some point I do need Photoshop for ... the many things I need to do (such as branding, etc.)

I don't really have the cash to upgrade to CS3... I've just tried re-installing CS2 and now I can't even start it to enter my activation codes... this is so aggravating.
Ideas anyone?

Not much of a Mac person but I will ask the stupid question any way. Did you try reinstalling over the original or did you uninstall first before you attempted the install. Sometimes you have to un install to get a clean install.

You might try creating a new user account and seeing if you can start it from there. Sometimes the plist files and other settings specific to your user can get messed up.

I had similar issues on leopard and cs3, but as Rick recommends, do a uninstall and a clean install again. Worked for me

I did an uninstall (by which I mean remove from the Finder).

As to some advice from another board, I'm going to try running a "Repair Disk Permissions" and resetting the PRAM. If that doesn't work I'll try setting up another account.

Things that haven't worked:

- Resetting PRAM (Crtl+opt+P+R on startup with 2nd startup ping)
- Creation of new account
- Reinstall of CS2

Why can't things just work?!

Instead of just deleting it from the Finder, try running Adobe's uninstaller. I think it should be in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers/Add or Remove Adobe... but I'm not positive about that (not on my computer with Photoshop).

I'll have to check on that path later when I get home.

In the mean time, you may try the steps in this article to manually remove all files associated with CS2 from your machine and try reinstalling:

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I found the answer on another board: it had something to do with a TWAIN file plugin, and re-naming the TWAIN plugin (from TWAIN to ~TWAIN) did the trick.

BTW I located the plugin by using spotlight: TWAIN.
