Kelby training classes on CS3 - 02-28-2008, 06:35 PM

Ok, I just bit the bullet on another thread in this forum and upgraded to CS3. Now my question (and I posed this on that thread also so apologize for kinda double posting) is whether anyone has used the Kelby training web site? They advertise $200 for a year to access all of their classes. I've looked through them and they look phenomenal. I did take some of the clases on PET website and learned a lot from them. Any input? Thanks.

Darlene,
Kelby Training is doing a workshop in Austin on Wed, 3/26/08. The cost is $99. Like you, I'm brand new with CS3. I'm going. It may all be over my head, but I've got a few days to, at least, get acquainted with CS3. I'm using the Adobe Classroom in a Book, which seems pretty good though I'm only on Lesson 2.

Ah, Bill, I think you are the one who led me down the CS3 path!! Will you take a look at the website and tell me what you think? I did get a flyer in the mail on the workshop but I'm pretty much a show me person. That is what I liked about the PET workshops on PSE 6 that I took. The Kelby website looks like it would be much the same. Each class has 10-20 subclasses. I'm thinking I could get a lot more out of 'access for a year' for $200 than $99 for one day. At the website you can sample the classes. Thanks.

Dan Margulis is doing three classes on that website. I'm thinking of signing up, and could justify the cost just for his classes. If you have the money, and really want to learn some useful Photoshop, then I think this would be a great way to learn.

I am taking the classes on Kelby Training and Dan Margulis it's just a wizard with color management on LAB this guy is the best, just his classes alone are worth the 199/ year subscription. I am very happy with those and Scott Kelby, Vince Versace, Matt Klowskoski, Dave Cross, have very interesting techniques to learn and add to your own ones. I am having a lots of fun. I am taking my Adobe Certification exam this coming April, I am so ready for it, and this classes just gave me that support I need it.

I've got a quick question here: Do you think its a better idea to sign up for a year, or to do the month by month option? It's like $200/year or $20/month. I'm thinking that I could sign up for one or two months -- go through everything available, and then maybe join again in another 3-6 months, when more content is available. The only way I see that this could be a problem is if they have some rules about rejoining, or if they take content down after a period. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Duffy thats how I am doing it, I pay each month, I have not try what you just said but it seems reasonable, and I don't think they have rules against that, you need to find out first.
They have at least one new class every week sometimes more so they keep it interesting enough for me also my wife it's taking them and she is having lots of fun with it, now she's help me retouch more pictures , and thats efficiency for our business.
Dan Margulis has 3 different lesson on color correction and they are awesome, for me was an eye opener and I am doing amazing things with my pictures.

OK, I think I'm sold. I've also heard good things about the Eisman and JP Caponegro lessons. I've read Margulis' Professional Photoshop, and LAB books several time. From what I understand, these lessons cover new materials. I'm a big fan.

the new class he's teaching comes from his most recently technique and let me tell you it is very interesting. He only has lesson one up, of the three for the entire proses. I am checking every day for the second one.

I signed up too Duffy. Figured I'd spend more than $200 on books.
