Photoshop Elements 6 or Paint Shop Pro X2 - 03-08-2008, 04:30 PM

I've been using Photoshop Elements 2.0 for quite sometime. I like it but do find it difficult to navigate at times. I saw a demo for Paint Shop Pro X2 and it looks a lot easier. I can only get one. Which do you think would work out better for me? I just recently got back in to photography and am a real newbie when it comes to photo editing. I mainly do travel and pet photography.

Oh, and I recently started working with RAW files from my Canon Digital Rebel XT. The RAW format does not work with Elements 2.0. Does Elements 6 or PSP X2 handle RAW?

Thanks,

Mark

I would say Elements 6, because if you ever get where you can afford PSCS/whatever, you will already be pretty familiar with how it works. And, having Elements may earn you a discount on the big program.
My wife has PaintShopPro2X, and Elements 5, and she uses both for different tasks. One has some bells and whistles that she hasn't yet found in the other. Or one may work more to her liking than the same feature on the other. But she says that both share many similarities.

For those reasons I would Advise Elements.

I personally use Elements 5 (although I'm saving for CS3 at the moment) and have found it quite easy to use, with great results. You can do a fair amount of raw imaging, but not to the extent of full Photoshop. I agree with Paul though, Elements would be a wise decision if you are looking to progress towards photoshop anytime in the future.
