But Aperture 2 'Rocks and Rolls'!!!

After using the trial (full featured) for a month, I went to the Apple store and picked up a copy. The boxed version comes with a nice book. And the price is the same. $199+ Gov Perry's share.
(and the boxed SN unlocked the downloaded trial. Cool! I didn't have to uninstall and run the CD.)

Mac Lightroom. Watch Out!!! I think Aperture will be provide some competition!

Paul - Have you been using Lightroom prior?

I have the trial of Aperture 2 and (at least until this point) prefer Lightroom still.

I guess I need to give it more of a chance.

I really like what Apple has done with version 2 but Lightroom intergrates with Photoshop so much better.

Just be careful. I went ahead and bought the upgrade, and spent quite a bit of time importing everything to a new library, fixing all the keywords, etc. After having spent quite a number of hours on it all, Aperture crashed (this was with the 2.0.1 update). After the crash, everything seemed fine, except if I tried to select one project Aperture would totally hang. Every time. Tried recovering from my vault, nothing.

Back to Lightroom... (Which I probably would have done anyway. I thought they'd fixed the "edit in external app" so that it could use ProPhoto as the colorspace, but turns out they didn't change that.)

Aperture does seem to be a Resource Hog. And I have 6 GB of Ram!!! I am trying to learn to deal with that because I like the results I am getting with Aperture better than I like what I am getting from Lightroom.
It has not crashed for me, or hung permanently, but it frequently becomes very slow and affects other apps..

Yeah, I didn't even mention resources. I have 8GB and would still have three swap files with Aperture running :-).
