Low Res Image - 03-26-2008, 07:54 PM

How do I make an image low res in PSP. I use the resize image and change the Resolution to 200 Pixels? It still shows the image 2900 x 4400 but the size is 1.64MB instead of 8.44 MB. I set the resample using Bicubic. Did I do this right for putting images on myspace.

Thanks,
Joyce

In CS3, you can go to "File - Save for Web & Devices"

Not sure about PSP but in CS3 you can also resize the image. For web, I use 72 dpi (resolution) and 800 pixels on the long side.

PSP does not have a save for web. I guess 200 pixels is to high. I guess I am also supposed to change the size of the image.

I cannot find a way of adding anything but a straight border. There must be a way to add a fancy border.

Joyce,

Use your crop tool. Most monitors display at 72 dpi, so set your crop at 72dpi and then size your crop in inches how big you want it to display on screen. Save as a different file .jpg, maybe use the same name with '_web' added to the end of the file name.

What about adding your studio logo. Changing the image to low res makes it distorted. Is there a solution?

Add your logo after resizing the image.

Save your file. Download the free XnView. Resize as any pixel dimension, start save-as, set jpg options>quality to 80 then the file size won't be over 200K, save.

in PSP, change the pixel size physical size (HxW) AND the resolution to 72 pixels/inch. Use Smart Size, it works the best of the choices available.

then use the JPG conversion tool or Save As> JPG. Under Options, adjust the compression/quality, I use 15-20 for web postings. (100=most compression)

I have tried adding logo after resizing. Does not work. Tried changing compression, does not work. Do not want to download XnView since I have a resizing program already. Any other suggestions?

XI. I finally copied and pasted as a new selection from another high res image and it worked.
Thanks,
Joyce
