Robin,

At first you said:

Now you say:

Now that is a statement I can agree with more than the first one. But still I am not convinced. I photographed my bride to be a simple, minimalist view of her as she thought about her upcoming wedding day. Its intent was to be simple, plain, so you would focus on her thoughts and not be overwhelmed by too much clutter in the image.

Here is my challenge: Take my bride, add something to it like you stated above, and make it something more than a simple image which is what was intended. I will send you the original file if you want to work on it right.

I really like using my Tricoast actions. They are pretty sweet. But the action I use the most is the vignette.

I mainly use the other actions for color emphasis or correction.

I am minimalist here. Every image get touched in PS. I am not LR user yet. I process my RAW files in Bridge for some minor tweaks. I try to do the best work in camera I can to avoid a lot of post production time. However, right out of the camera to give them that look a I have a standard contrast, clarity, vin., and saturation settings I apply.

Then if any need a little white balance help I do that. Then I have two custom actions that I created to give me my color pop and my b&w. I also hold back about 40 from a wedding for some artsy fartsy fun. Then I take the gloves off.

You diownload the zip file and extract the action file (.atn), copy it to the dir photoshop cs3 > preset>action and then load it in photoshop. For photoshop cs2 it would be photoshop cs2>preset>photoshop actions.

Ok let me clarify

My original question was not how to save a image. It was how do you create special effects for wedding photos, that can be for print or book.

If you disagree with using special effects or "Photochop" (How cute and professional is that) fine so be it. But I have seen many pros use them and in some cases I like it and so do the people I shoot for. Our wedding album that was done in 1974 by a film photographer even had some special effects in it.

I am basically a freelance photographer that shoots stock photography and etc. I enjoy shooting what I want when I want.

In general I only shoot weddings for friends and family, I usually do not get involved in weddings as they are sometimes a pain; as can be seen in some of the posts here on TPF.

Hi Austin,

Thank you for the email!! I have to admit the prices caught me off guard since I am on such a tight budget. However, I hope we can come up with a package that meets both our needs and our budget so here goes.
This is what I WANT and what I'm willing to pay for.

-3 photographers for wedding day
-Complete photo editing & website viewing of pictures
-8-12 hours of wedding photography coverage
-1, 50 page 12x16 album
-2 Parent 6x8 albums
-2 Grandparent 6x8 albums
- Bridal session at location of our choice (1-2 hours) includes 1-16x20,1-11x14, 2-8x10, 3-5x7
-Engagement session at location of our choice (1-2 hours) includes 1-16x20, 2-11x14, 2-8x10, 3-5x7

I really don't want to spend no more than 500-600 dollars. I know I might be asking for just a bit much but I know what prints REALLY cost and I know how long it takes to REALLY photoshop images so I know you will give me a fare price.

Best Wishes,

I am a firm believer in shooting in the RAW mode whenever possible and when I shoot in RAW mode all my images get Photoshop and I use actions to batch process them as much as possible. I don't know about most people here but when I shoot 500+ images they are not all perfect

I have no intention of turning this post into a competition for special effects or a discussion on the use of "Photochop". There are other forums here on TPF for those discussions.

So let me ask the question again

What is or are your favorite Photoshop Effects for wedding photos (Vignettes and etc.)?

It seems like there are whole bunch of nifty actions at atncentral.com, but since there are so many of them there, if there pictures to show what the actions actually does?? rather than trying one after another
