Favorite effects...well lit, correctly exposed, compositionally correct and if required well posed images. People pay me big money for this, and I don't have to use photochop. (Ops, I mean photoshop! ) Imagine that.

Very snarky of you! Heck even TriCoast uses 'chop actions pretty regularly. They're highly paid and very successful. They must be doing something right.

Personally, I rarely use actions in Photoshop. In fact, now that I have Lightroom, I hardly get into Photoshop at all for image processing. I'll get in there for an occasional zit removal.

Hold on...not Snarky. I said what I do...I didn't put anyone in the mix or start dropping names.

Fair enough. I think we were both just trying to be funny, so back to the original topic. The OP's question was "what are your favorite 'shop actions for weddings?"

I do find that I use vignette pretty regularly in Lightroom, and I'll use a softening effect action I created in Photoshop for some portraits. I need to find one that does a better job than mine. I have masks and layers left over that I still have to hand-edit to keep the eyes, mouth, hair, etc sharp. I could probably save myself a few steps somewhere, but I've yet to figure out where or how.

CJ

All that is a given

Even the best pros use vignettes, blurs, glamour blurs and etc to dress up a photo for printing and placing in a book or stand alone. All these can be used to give the bride a dreamy image of her dream day don't you think

I can take a boring shot of the bride add a vignette and it becomes a great image or add a glamour blur and it becomes a great image.

Just my $0.02 worth LOL

Getting it right in camera (as Coby was alluding to (and of course Rott knows - his 'before' images are better than most 'after' images)) eliminates a LOT of photoshop work of "fixing" the image. Post-processing is so much easier then. For those who want to go past that into special effects (vignette, etc.) even then those effects work better - I'm hoping to do a better job of getting it right in camera this year so my 'chop work is easier than last year

My favorite actions - a vignette action Weibner shared on DWF. And some actions James Hodgkins shares on NoBS. Both save a lot of time and give professional results.

Robin,

So your formula for a Great Image in this new Digital Age is:

Boring picture + vignette = Great Image
or
Boring picture + glamour blur = Great Image

I Don't Believe It! You are going have to show me.

It takes a bit more than that to make a great looking image, but if you have a excellent image coming out of the camera already, "all you need is LOVE" sorry sorry..... Beatles fan here , as I was saying....not much PP is need it after all, but if you did not take a good picture not even Adobe it self with all their programs will be able to help you. It's a team effort, and like my daughter says "whats going to work??? TEAM WORK"

Mostly vignettes with a blur. Sometimes I will cross process or really punch up the colors. Just depends on the feeling and mood of the image and what the client is really looking for.

Does anyone like Duotones? That is kind of fun to mess around with but I also use atncentral for a lot of my actions those really do come in handy and you can do some neat things. I use the glamour Blur and a fill light action probably the most.

Edited for spelling.

No that is not always true.

There are times though when they can really dress up an image.

Looking at your website I would say this image is a little boring and can be dressed up by a possible vignette or etc.

I like the effect you used on this image:
