CS4 Photoshop for the Mac will not be 64bit.

More as to why on Jack Nack's Adobe blog.

8 to 12 percent increase in speed doesn't seem like that much. I want to know what else be in this new version. My buying decision will be based of what new selection tools they put in

Thanks for the tip. The info will help me in putting a new computer together, it looks like time to go 64 bit.

Before Mac users feel too bad (or Windows users feel too good!) I would suggest reading the whole of the referenced blog. Also, I believe that the vast majority of Windows XP and Vista installed operating systems out there are the 32-bit variety. 64-bit versions exist but not a lot of people have installed them.
I think that this does say, as mentioned above, that if a person is in the market for a new computer it is time to think 64-bit processor.

I'm already running Vista x64 with 8GB of ram, so this is very welcome news. It should make dealing with large panos much better.

Cool, I'm already outdated with a computer only 9 months old. When did the 64 bit come out? Don't tell me it was 8 months and 29 days ago.
