You need ACR 4.whatever is latest (4.4.1 I think). Which is not available for CS2. You will either have to upgrade Photoshop to CS3, or download the latest DNG converter and convert the files to DNG, which can then be opened with CS2.

What Bill said...

It's a convenient way for Adobe to push people to upgrade. You should be able to use the software that came with the camera to convert to TIFF or JPG too if DNG is not preferable...

Good luck.

I believe Bill and Andrew have you fixed up pretty well. The Capture NX that is boxed with the D300 is a pretty good software. You might check out the NEF plug-in at NIKON for Adobe. http://support.nikontech.com/cgi-bin...i=&p_topview=1
not sure if it's exactly what you are needing though.

thanks everyone. i did open them up in the Nikon software but it doesn't have the same features as PS. I guess i'll have to upgrade. Yes they got me. I didn't realize i would have to spend more money than i already have to work with the files but then again i didn't ask!!!! But the camera and the 2 lenses i bought with the camera are amazing and it's keeping me out of the bars so it's worth it.

I had the same problem. The fix is to download Adobe DNG converter from adobe.com. This application converts NEFS into DNG files which can be opened by CS2.

Once you've converted all of the NEFS into DNGs, you can delete the NEFS.

Hope this helps.

Why not just use Lightroom? It works perfectly with the D300 files.
