Lightroom/Mogrify ? - 05-16-2008, 10:31 AM

I downloaded Mogrify for exporting out of Lightroom. I am not understanding how to use it and wonder if anyone can help. It appears that I have to use some command lines to make things happen but I don't know where to get the command lines to insert.

Thanks,
Greg

Try the link above. It and and the links on the page helped me out a lot.

What exactly are you trying to do with Mogrify? I've played around quite a bit with it and use it exclusively for exporting to SmugMug, flickr, and to a folder on my machine that I share out to my AppleTV. The only thing I don't use it for is direct exports for uploading to WHCC (printing). I use Timothy's plugins for SmugMug and the Mogrify plugin alone for other exports. Most of what I do is resizing and dropping a border around the photos. Let me know if I can help.

Thank you for the replies and information. I did not realize when I started this that I would have to do computer language strings. I assumed this was a more user friendly interface.

tjones, do you or anyone else have a language string for adding a copyright watermark to images when exported?

I would really like to be able to export without having to use a separate application for watermarking.

Greg, did you check out Timothy's site? If you use his Lr Mogrify plugin, you don't have to know any of the command-line stuff. One of the options in the plug-in is to add text, border, watermarks, etc.

If you have issues installing it in the correct directory and are using Vista, let me know. Otherwise, there should be some install location/directions on the site and/or links.

I can drop you some screen shots if you'd like. It'll have to be later tonite or this weekend--I'm at the work laptop now and don't have access to my computer w/Lr installed. Feel free to respond or PM me.

tjones,

Thank you for your help. I am on a Mac and I thought that it had this stuff as buttons I could simply click on and it would do it. I downloaded the mogrify plugin yesterday and when I click on export and then the mogrify it shows two places in which to add a language sequence. I did not see a "preset" for watermarking or anything else. Did I miss that? I am going back through Tim's website now.

Not sure about the Mac setup...sorry.

Are you just installing the Mogrify plugin are are you installing the Piglet functionality. It's the Piglet stuff that most likely adds the extra GUI. I installed them all at the same time, so I'm not 100% sure. Apologize for not being more specific ealier...hope I didn't waste our time there.

Here is the link to Jeff's Piglet manager: Piglet Manager

Once you install the piglet manager and configure it (basically point it to the ImageMagik Mogrify App), you can then drop in Timothy's piglet version of Lr/Mogrify. There's also piglets for SmugMug, flikr, Zenfolio, etc. I know the SmugMug one works flawlessly.

Thank you for your time and effort. I did find some information on watermarking at:

www.imagemagick.org/usage/annotating/#wmark_text

I will try the "Piglet" it came with my Mogrify download. Thanks
