Specific ? re: Adobe Photoshop Elements 3 - 05-18-2008, 09:54 PM

It has been difficult for me to learn Photoshop Elements 3, so I hope someone here can help me accomplish what I want to do. I am trying to crop photos to fit into a digital photo frame. The frame I am using has a 480x243 image pixel size, so it doesn't easily convert the photos I have on my computer. I am trying to crop the photos myself to ensure I get the best crop, instead of letting the frame do it for me. Sooo, in Photoshop Elements 3 I selected a crop size of 6.6875inx 3.25in which I think will best fit in the frame. To get the crop I want, I have to include background outside the photo. O.K., I'm fine with this, except the background is white. How can I make it black? I will have to do this on probably at least 100 photos (or more) so the simplest solution is greatly appreciated. Or, any other ideas on how to accomplish this same thing would be greatly appreciated. I am posting my original picture and edited picture, so you can see what I mean. Thanks for any help you can provide.

//I'm not sure you'll be able to see the white borders on the left and right side of the picture, but they are there. How do I make them black? //

Try select all, inverse, then fill with black.

I think

Someone who really knows will be along

you can enter the size you need in the crop tool options bar and it will crop to that specific size.

I still have a book on my shelf on using Elements 3. If you have any interest in it, let me know.

Thanks for the help, everyone. I tried to "select all, inverse" trick, but it didn't work. And I have a book, too, it's just that what I'm trying to do is so wierd, it's not really covered. What I'm going to do is create a blank image that is the right size, make it black and then copy and paste the portion of the image I want onto it. Thanks everyone for taking the time to post.
