Am I going crazy??? - 05-25-2008, 07:11 AM

I had a canon utility that would show the AF point location I shot in a picture. I have personally seen it on my computer. For the life of me I can not find it now, I know it's here but shesh where? I have searched and search. Where did I see it? Is it in DPP or is it another program? I think I'm going crazy....

help?

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one!!

http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...ight=af+points

Hope I posted the link correctly, if not, do advanced search with my name and put in AF points, you'll get the link.

Don't call Canon, the knucklehead I got, told me it wasn't possible to view that. ????? And I'm still not sure what is going on...I forgot about this program, and tried this morning to look at the photos I took yesterday. The AF points don't show up...I remember someone telling me it only works, if you push the shutter half way down. Well I know I did that in these photos, and it still doesn't show. Maybe you can tell me if it works for you.

You can find the AF point by using ZoomBrowser EX. You have to use the view feature to do it. While in the view mode, there is a button on the top that look like a cross made up of small squares. Hope I explained it right so you can get there.

Thanks Ray, can I expand? I had troubles, you have to click on "view image" and a seperate box comes up, then the box with the "cross" with small squares shows up.

So that brings up the questions...when you have a group, where do you focus? I used to always use the one that picked my setting for me...not a good choice. So do you pick the middle, and know your DOF is good to keep the rest in focus? Here's a photo for example..

Groups are always a challenge. You have to be sure your DOF will cover the distance front to back. A good wide angle from a fair distance with a f8 and good lights may well serve you best. Advice from one of the Pros would be good here.

If you will remember that depth of field is 1/3 in front of the plane of focus and 2/3 behind it. with three or four rows you would want to focus on the second row.
