any catalog size limit on Lightroom? - 05-29-2008, 10:46 AM

I've just started testing the Lightroom 2 beta and I dumped ~20k images into the catalog, then separated them into Collections for each year. Is this generally okay, or will I run into problems with that large of a catalog? I have a new computer (quad core, 3 GB ram) so I shouldn't be equipment-limited.

Just looking for some advice to prevent problems down the road. How does everyone else have their catalog set up?

i do a catalog for each year. 2007 was 12k images imported with no issue. performance may decline with very large catalogs, though.

For answers to LR 2.0 Beta questions, you can ask Victoria Bampton. She is regularly on the POTN forum. You can also join the Adobe Lightroom 2.0 forum and search for your answer or ask if it has not already been covered.

Currently my catalogs are not that large so I can't provide any personal experience answers.
