PSE6 Question - 05-30-2008, 04:55 PM

Does anyone know how to add backgrounds to the Effects palette?
I have looked everywhere and can't find out how to do it.
I have some background papers from another program that I would like to use in elements for cards, etc.
Any help would be greatly appreaciated.
Thanks
T

Tizzy, go here http://www.graphic-design.com/Photoshop/ and see if it helps (if you haven't been there already)

Rod -
Thanks for the website. I had already checked it out.
I think I worded my first question wrong.

What I need to do is add backgrounds to the content palette. I have read that it can be done, but I can't find anyway to do it.

From this site: http://www.arraich.com/elements/pse5...bigsquares.htm

Elements 6 users only : to add the backgrounds to your Content palette, Close Elements. Take the files out of their unzipped folder (select all/copy) and paste them into the following location:
In Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Photo Creations\backgrounds
In VISTA: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Photo Creations\backgrounds
When you reopen Editor, you may have to switch menu choices (backgrounds to frames then back to backgrounds) to get the new items to show up.

I finally figured it out!
Thanks to everyone for their help.

Turns out the backgrounds folder was hidden and I had to do a search through the hidden files to find it.

Thanks again!

I have a PSE6 question that I'll toss in this thread:

Can you swap color channels using 6, or is that more of a CS3 capability?

The reason I am asking is that I have been playing with IR photos lately, and would like to switch the red and blue channels. I have been able to get more of a bluish tint with WB adjustments, but I would like to give them more pop. Right now my editing software consists of the stuff that the camera came with! On the bright side, I try really hard to get it right in camera.
