I am having trouble with this one and another...seems the blonde hair and want-to -be blondes are a struggle for me. I am trying to look at just the histogram in the LR and adjust that way...not sure that's the best way...any suggestions would be appreciated...

Hi Renae,

The first step is to set your white balance. If this is shot w/ all flash, no natural light - then start with a white balance setting that is equal to your lights. Are they around 4300k or 5000K? Set the wb accordingly and leave the tint at 0

If the photo looks too cool then slide the WB to the right. Too warm (yellow/orange) then slide it to the left.

This is a "global" adjustment, meaning the change is applied to the whole histogram/photo. Then and only then would I start tweaking the individual colors.

Cheers
James

Did not look too yellow to me but rather too red. All i did was use Color Balance and lowered the red. I only did the right half of the image. More could be done. I have a problems as my monitor went out three days ago and I am using one that has be laying around for about 5 years. So I am not really sure what is happening. Forgive me if I am way out of line.

As mentioned above. Correction of White balance before the shot would be better.

Renae,

I like it but you know me I did a little something to enhance it a bit, I did a curve adjustment layer to balance the color a bit and I sharpen the lightness channel on LAB and steep the curves on A and B channels to bring I bit more color. I worked on her eyes to make the pop a bit. I hope you like it.

The white of peoples' eyes are always a good point to start your WB adjustment, unless they stay up too late or have too many drinks

Luis, I need to pay you to process my photos...you do awesome work...I am getting some lessons on Tuesday, maybe they can help me!!! The "curves" thing is above and beyond my comprehension....thanks for showing us....it looks so much better.

Jack, It does look like red is an issue too. I can see the difference with the split face...that's a good example, thank you for showing it that way..it is so obvious. Back to the drawing board!!

Luis - I really like what you did to make the eyes pop. Care to share your technique?

Woohoo - wow these are awesome. I agree that the color looks fine to me - I don't like the cooled down version as much.

Cheers
James

Hope you don't mind one more attempt. Also, I can't resist doing one in B&W.
