CD Proofing - 07-07-2008, 11:17 AM

I have a lot of out of town brides. And I am finding it too hard to proof online. As it can take forever. I have heard people talk about low res CD's that you can make expire after so long?

Does anyone know what I am talking about and how to make a CD do this?

Thanks!

I don't know anything about CD expiration. However, I know you're probably concerned about brides printing from the CD. You could put the word PROOF across every image in post. Just a thought.

Yes Printing and I have also found that people see to get fulfilled with simply being able to see the image, that they don't feel it necessary to purchase the images. I goal is to get additional print sales on top of what is in their contract. And I feel if they have a low res CD. They can just pop in the CD or go to their computer anytime they want to see the images VS. buying prints?

There is a software that will do just this. It isn't cheap, but very effective and will even encrypt the images on the CD and prevent any serious printing of images.

CD FLIP ALBUM VISTA PRO $159.99

FLIP ALBUM VISTA CD SHOPPING CART $149.99

You can require passwords, place time limits on the viewing, etc. of the CD. Very intuitive and easy to work with as well. I use this for all of my weddings as a proof medium.

I use Flip Album Pro ver. 5.5 (XP). www.flipalbum.com

I prefer it over 6.0. Just personal preference.

You can make the CD expire after a particular date or after X number of views/plays.

The also have a pretty good forum.

Unfortunately, they no longer sell that version. I wanted to buy it as I had someone with an extra copy of the CD Cart for it. It is either Vista Pro or nothing. (You don't have to have Vista to run the software either...it is just called Vista.)

I use Pictures to Exe. It is a great program for viewing images. You can set an expiration date, disable right-click to prevent copying, put music on the background, lots of transitions, and the best part it is only $47. When you buy it you get the latest versions FREE. It has its own forum and updating on line. It is drag and drop with thumbnails. Go check it out. You can download a free trial version.

Man I forgot that one...I used to use it, but I love the CD Shopping cart (as do my clients) in Flip Album and that was my reason for changing.

That might be nice for extras that are ordered by random people from the wedding. But I have to design the album for the bride and a simple list is better for me.

That IS the beauty of this software. The FIRST item on the list is:

ALBUM SELECTION

The bride simply adds the images she wants to her cart and prints the list. She doesn't even have to MAKE a list. The software does it, I don't have to deal with handwriting and she has a copy of the images she selected.

If also allows the Bride/Groom to start/stop and anywhere in the images so that they do not lose their place. (Bookmarks)

Other people ordfering can add prints etc. they want and it doesn't affect the bride/groom's choice.

I tried downloading a free trial of the software and have no idea what I need to do to get the software to work? LOL

Can you send me a link to a sample of what you give your brides and grooms to proof with?

I guess I don't see where the brides can select the images or the image #'s they are wanting to order. I just looks like an digital wedding album?

Thanks!

Teresa

I give them an actual CD ROM. I don't post to the web. Kinda hard to get you a CD ROM.

Here are some samples they have on the web. Just click and follow instructions.

Yeah I so those flip books, I guess I don't understand how people place their orders with the CD Flip book? How do they let you know what images they want printed? (Page 10 bottom right picture?) I don't see Image numbers or anyway for them to let you know what they want. Sorry, if I am missing the obvious? LOL

You have control of all those featrues. You can add Image #, format it how you want, where you want etc. You have to have the CD Shopping Cart software to all them to select and add the images to a "shopping cart" that is later e-mailed to you, or printed and turned into you.

In that list from the shopping cart is the size, image # etc. that will tell you what they have choosen.
