Why is my cursor disappearing? - 08-03-2008, 09:55 PM

Why is my cursor disappearing? I am having a problem with my cursor disappearing just when I need it most. I first noticed it happening when I am using a PS tool, usually the clone tool. As I press the ALT key to select my source, the cursor may disappear. As I can move my cursor it will reappear. Move it again it will disappear. All of these movements are very short, just two or three pixels. This makes it almost impossible to select precisely.
I notice right now, as I am typing in this dialog box to start this thread, that as I move my cursor around the typing box it disappears and appears as it moves across the box. When I go outside the dialog box the cursor is constantly visible and does not disappear.
Because this happens in two different applications it would appear to be a Windows problem.
Any suggestions of the cause of my troubles?

Your computer could be located near a vortex to a worm hole or some other space-time anomoly. I'd try disengaging the warp unit to the processor to see if that helps. If that fails, I'd start looking for a witch doctor.

But seriously, mine does that on occassion. It doesn't bother me all that much as the cursor usually returns when I move the mouse around. It could be a mouse setting.

Ray,

Hey thanks for disengaging the warp unit, it worked. Or it could be the changed mouse settings I changed at the same time.

I thought it was a PS problem because I didn't notice it at any other time. But then I did realize it was doing it all the time it just wasn't an issue until I tried to line something up precisely. Realizing it was a Windows problem the solution was easy to search for and diagnose. Thanks to all of you indicating it was a mouse setting problem, you were right. The culprit, mouse trails. I thought it looked cute to have this little trail of where my mouse had been like it does on my laptop. I turned that off - no more problem.

Thanks to all of you for your help.
