Help with processing - 08-06-2008, 12:52 AM

I am trying to figure out how this image was processed. If anyone can direct me to where I might find the type of processing done on this image it would be greatly appreciated.

I did not take this photo, a friend of mine in a local band sent it to me and I would like to know how this was accomplished so I thought I would post it here for help.

Attachment 80178

If anyone can assist with links or help in any way it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Stephen Gibson

Warning! What I'm about to say may or may not sound nice and may or may not be fully accurate. Read at your own risk. :)

First off, how was it processed? Not well. Nice enough technique but I see some obvious flaws but on to the actual process.

I don't know what all was done but at first glance, each member is on a different layer and their background removed. Once aligned (if the shots were taken separately) a glow fx was put around 3 of them. There is a background layer that looks like it had the "clouds" filter applied although I can't swear to that. Not sure how they made that fog but there are better ways of doing it. And finally it looks like a slight motion blur was applied to the lower portions of two men's bodies.
The guy to the far right... His glow was only applied to his head. Not sure why they put that shadow on his shoulder or if it was an oversight.
I have no idea what the point was in cutting off their bottom portions and not having that fade into the mists... Especially cutting off the hands. If the shot was taken that way and they had to, I'd have thought some kind of mist or effect would have improved that area.
I'm sorry if this sounds harsh. I honestly don't mean it to be. I haven't had my first cup of coffee yet. :)

Cheryl,
Thanks for posting, I knew the processing was bad but I thought maybe there was a Technique involved in how they processed the image and that is what I was hoping to find out if anyone knew what the process was called or where I could find samples or a Tutorial or something.

Thanks again,

Steve

My apologies for misunderstanding. I'm still not sure I understand the question. Whic part of the process? I may be able to help if I understand which of the processes you are referring to. I'm guessing it isn't the ones I mentioned in the post.
