Ok ok...i need y'all to tell me if im being OCD or if im in any way normal.

I've read where some people run a quick curves/white balance adjustment on a batch of similar photos and just call it a day...or do that and then do a run through and only edit minor things that jump out as needing fixed.

I cant stand editing in batches. I always do a quick run through, and dont even attempt to process something that doesnt just jump out at me... I like to look at each and every single file. And edit each and every single file. and try a few different processes on my favorite images. So when i shoot in Raw...i do all my light/exposure fixes in lightroom. i export all of those files to photoshop. i sharpen/crop/few adjustment layers there and save as jpeg. and i do this to EVERY file individually.

I think if i were busier, id be considered OCD. but since im not as busy as most of you...i think im ok...for now?? im pretty sure somewhere down the road im gonna have to find something quicker to do.

any suggestions for me?

I do very much the same thing. If you're shooting in a studio with controlled lighting, yes batch edits work great. You know pretty much what the outcome will look like. But there is no way I could come home from an outdoor event shoot and do batch editing. It would be a disaster. So yes, I examine each one in LR then tweak, then off to CS3 for more work if needed.

there really isn't any reason to crop in photoshop - lr works just fine. i hardly ever use photoshop anymore unless i'm running some sort of action for processing. i noise reduce and sharpen seperately.

but i do edit each and every file in LR - and with the new adjustment layers in LR2 - almost no need at all for ps...

You know there is a work around for getting actions to run in LR. I just read this today. One more reason for not opening PS.

I think it depends on what your genre is and output requirements are. I shoot mostly for model portfolios. The output from a 3 hour shoot is usually no more than 4 to 6 images. Those each get individual attention in Photoshop. In some cases, the output from a headshot session will be just 2 images for a single look. I spend about 10 minutes on an image, sometimes less (headshots), sometimes much more (for my personal book).

I think you need to decide what is right for you.
