I'm using Elements 6, which I'm very new to. Can I put a digital signature or copyright (ie, name or studio name) across my photos with this program? Any help would be appreciated. Use the text tool and while typing, hold down the ALT while typing 0169. © will appear. then type the year, and name/owner or whatever you need.

Ken, I use CS2 and this does not work for me. Is there another easy way to put the copyright on pictures? I've heard that this formula does not work with all versions of PS.

I used the text tool and was able to type the year and name...just couldn't get the copyright using the ALT / 0169. Did I miss something?

Are y'all doing what Ken said exactly? Hold down the alt key then type 0169 ? It works for me no matter what the program. © 2008 Photography by Roy O'Dell.
If you can't get that to work, bring up the character map. Or just hightlight the copyright symbol and do a copy/ paste.

on my notebook keyboard, I have to hold down the (blue) function (Fn) key while doing this to activate the (blue) numbers.
But on a regular keyboard this shouldn't be needed.
One more thing: use the numbers in the numeric part of the keyboard, not those along the top row.

Roy,
alt+0169 does not work in PSE6. I have to do it in word and do a copy/cut and paste into the text tool box.

Also, some fonts don't include the © symbol, so you may have to find another font that does.

Are you asking how to place a © symbol on your photo? or do you actually want to COPYRIGHT your images with the Copyright office in Washington? If the latter... start here.. http://www.copyright.gov/register/

You can now send a CD/DVD of your images along with the proper forms once or twice a year.

Mike,
Are you wanting to "watermark" multiple images at the same time?? I have CS3 and PSE4 not PSE6, but I'm assuming that it will be the same...If you are wanting to do just a single picture at a time, then I would do it the way that Ken mentioned. If you are wanting to process a bunch of photos at a time, for posting, for resizing and for watermarking this is the fastest way that I've found, and what i do'with all my shots to be posted for client showing.
NOTE: If you want to resize images, separate them into two folders. In one folder put all your portrait style shots, and in the other put your landscape style shots (I've found this works best when resizing)
Then:
1. open up your editor in PSE, then go to File>process multiple photos (if this is grayed out, just open a random pic in the editor and then go to file>process multiple photos. This will open up a dialog box, where you have some options to choose
2. I leave the "process files from" as "folder"
in the "source" field choose select and browse to the folder where you have stored the images you want to process. In the "destination" field select browse and go to the folder where you want the "watermarked, or resized images" to be stored.
3. I don'tusually rename any of my images, but you have that option.
4. If you want to resize the images, then select a height size and leave the other one blank (make sure you have "constrain proportions" checked) and you can select the resolution of the new images.
5. Select the file type that you want the processed images to be.
6. On the right side of the dialog box you will see "quick fix" and "labels", drop down your "labels" if not already displaying and select Watermark from the drop down. In the custom text field put your watermark info, usually I hold down the ALT key while I type in 0169 (that gives me the copyright symbol) and then whatever text I want to include. Select where you want it placed in the photo, the font to be used and the size. Also you can select color, and opacity. Hit OK and let it go...it will take a few mins depending on the number of photos you are processing, but once it's done they are ALL watermarked!! Check to make sure your font was not too big....if not, redo until you are happy with the result. Hope this helps!
