Quick way to remove this screen? - 08-12-2008, 03:02 PM

I did a wedding 2 weeks ago and they had a projector screen on the wall at the front of the church. As you can see, it doesn't look very nice. Any ideas of how to remove it easily and quickly? It shows in all the pictures. I would like to remove it for album prints.

With that basic shape it should be easy to select it with a rectangular marquee tool and then fill with the same color as the wall. It will take slighty more effort to redraw the panels and extend their pattern to the ceiling, but should be doable without too much frustration.

This one would actually be a little easier, but there are several where the screen is behind their head. How would you redraw the panels?

I'm taking a look at the image to see what I can do with it.

I have some other items I need to take care of but I'll definitely follow up on the image a little later this afternoon.

You could try using the select>color range… dialogue and selecting the pixels in the light area of the screen and fill with the wall color, then do the same with the darker frame. (you may need to adjust the tolerance in your magic wand tool before you begin)

I would duplicate your base layer so you are sure not to destroy anything by mistake.

Mask out the bg, use paintbursh tool and select a color next to the screen and paint over it, use the patch tool to add a little more texture to the wall and crease, use line tool to draw a mark in the wall behind them, use the smudge tool to clean up any weird spots(lightly) bring the bg back in and mask them over the newly created background.
