Christmas/Holiday Cards - 09-04-2008, 04:04 PM

Has anyone made their own custom holiday cards? I'd like to create my own to be able to offer something different than everyone else, but haven't done this before. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

We've resorted to simply applying suitable text to a favorite pic of the fam or something else from the past year (or at least not recycling the previous years' pics!). Then upload to your favorite printer (WalMart, Walgreens, MPix...).

4x6 "cards" are darn cheap......

We make our own every year, and in the studio I offer press printed cards instead of photo-style cards. There are a lot of places where you can buy backgrounds and card designs that are licensed for commercial use, if you don't want to start from scratch and you're planning on selling to clients. Here's one of our pre-purchased designs from last year:

I have made several of my own. If that is the route you are looking at going, I download alot of backgrounds from:

www.istockphoto.com

I generally download fonts for use off of:

www.dafont.com

I get alot of brushes from here:

The only thing that will limit you is your imagination!

P.S. You do have photoshop right?
