Resize for web

This is a discussion on Resize for web within the Post Processing Central forums, part of the Photography Information category; I looked around on here and couldn't find it but what is the best size to resize for the web...so ...

I looked around on here and couldn't find it but what is the best size to resize for the web...so that I can post it up but someone who decides to R click won't be able to print it up...Thanks

What I do for web pages is an 800x600 at a medium or high compression ratio. I find the outcome of these images produce a good 4x6 and a passable 8x10 but anything larger than that is terrible.

A 640x480 image on the web is just too small to bother looking at anymore. I think degrading the image quality either with compression or by other means is by far the best route.

You might consider adding a water mark as part of your post processing too. -G

also change the resolution to 72 dpi

IMHO, I would much rather look at a clean 640x480 image, then a heavly degraded and compressed 800x600 image.
A water mark is the best idea.
