Christmas Cards - 10-08-2008, 10:55 PM

I was tinkering around today making Christmas Card Templates. I'm kinda impressed with what I've got but I am afraid I went a little overboard. What do you think?
....I wish there was a way to space these out, they really look busy clumped together.

I like them, nice layouts.

The image in the bottom one should be replaced though - her eyes looking out to the side does not relay "merry" or "happy".

I like the templates. I have been trying to do one of these but I am not that good in PS. Do you have a tutorial?

LOL No Tutorial, I'm just learning myself. I did a search for photoshop brushes. I downloaded some Christmas ones. When building it, almost EVERYTHING went on it's own layer. This alows you to make quick and easy adjustments.
EVERY Layer got "Bevel & Emboss" with contour & Texture added via Bevel & Emboss. If you add Texture the other way it changes your color, I found.
Also EVERY layer gets drop shadow, play with the shadowing, it can really add some depth.
Most layers got a "Stroke" just to outline it a bit.
The textures are really what make it!
The Gingerbread man is a brush I downloaded, it looked just like a stamp, pain blob, then I added the texture and he looks like a cookie.
The snowman, the same thing. I just did two of him, each on their own layer, one white, one black, then deleted his body on the black one, then again added texture, contour, shadow.
Hope all that makes sense, let me know If I need to back up and tell you where to find these things.

I found this place really inspirational - http://scraplesspress.com/blog
Their prices are really good too, should of saved myself some time and just ordered through them!

I like your templates. The first photo is great, the others I don't know if they add to it or not, but I know you're just playing.

April,

Those are excellent. How did you create the little curly-q things in the first one?

Aren't those CUTE! Those are my new favorite brushes! They are just Photo Shop Brushes.
Do a Search for photoshop brushes, I don't remember the website but they are called butterfly flowers.

Really nice work!

Ditto the comment about the eyes on the last one - that's the very first thing I noticed. Also the dark red font on the last one is a bit difficult (for me) to read against the dark green background - maybe you could pull some red out of his shirt to use for the font - at least the colors would balance...

I am assuming you are working on the templates only and not the pictures do you?

Great templates, can I ask what the font is that you used in the last one?

You should be able to put spaces (enter key) between the image links.

PS- Those are incredible. I wouldn't know where to start...
