How can I batch process images? - 10-10-2008, 04:29 PM

I have CS3 and Elements 6.

I voluntered to take pics for my kids yearbook and I have a group of 100 photos that I would like to add a little saturation and sharpening to and wanted to know if ther was a way to do it to all the photos automatically. I can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They had a guest speaker today named Jeff Savage who is the #1 non fiction sports book writer and is also an avid amateur photographer. He was a blast to watch perform and his energy level exceeded the 4th graders.

it's pretty easy...

1. Open an image
2. Record a new action with the steps you want
a. Window > Actions > New Action > Name > Record
3. Stop the Action recording (do this before closing the sample file)
4. Close the image (do not save changes)
5. File > Automate > Batch
6. Select the Action you just created
7. Select the source folder
8. Select the destination folder (make it different than the source)
9. Click <OK>

I recommend you try this on a folder of 3-5 images first to make sure everything is happening just as you want. Once you're sure it is, run it on the full folder of images.

Good luck!

Actually, my previous post assumes you shot in JPEG. If you shot in RAW, there is a different workflow using your RAW editing program. (Adobe Camera Raw, Canon Digital Photo Professional, Lightroom, etc.)
