Aperture 2 is great!
You can do a lot of editing with it, and now many plug-ins are becoming available that will enhance it even further.
Go for it!

90% of my editing is handled with Aperture 2.
The plug-ins are the same for PCs. It's a great program for managing your images as well.
Easy to learn and use, and very powerful.

I am still on the fence with Aperture 2 and Lightroom 2, both are excellent and at the moment I'm using both still. Aperture 2 has nicer handling of highlight recovery still compared to Lightroom 2 in my opinion (nothing scientific just using average shots to try it).

Honestly, I think I'll continue to use both for a while but the major problem with Aperture is they are always slow to update RAW support for newer cameras. But that's not a big deal unless ya just got a new camera like I did LOL.

Has Aperture been updated with a printing module like LR 2? I'm making the switch to Mac and can't use Qimage, either (as far as I know). I'm still on the fence between LR2 and Aperture 2. Thanks for starting this thread.

The printing in Aperture 2 is still pretty dreadful when compared with the print module in Lightroom 2. The one thing I really like about Lightroom's printing is that you can see everything right there in front of you, in Aperture it is still plenty of options and drop downs but no visual layout tools.

Peter.

Thanks Peter. Are you aware of any good third party printing plug-ins?

I have to say, I never thought to look. Certainly if none are out there yet then someone somewhere would stand to make a fortune improving the print section of Aperture.

If anyone comes across any please share, I'll take a look around and see if I can find some.

So true....I'll do some poking around, too.

Sadly I've not found anything for printing from Aperture by way of a plugin yet. And seems there is no signs on the Aperture plugin page either http://www.apple.com/aperture/resources/plugins.html.

I was on the same resource page, too. No joy. What an opportunity knocking here......
