Talking Great deals on software - MUST SEE!! - 11-20-2008, 08:48 PM

For those of you who have a K-12 student at home, the Academic Superstore (http://www.academicsuperstore.com) will sell software (Mac and PC) at EDUCATION prices to you. All you have to do is provide a current student ID, or other proof of registration. I got the Adobe CS4 Creative Premuim Design Suite (Full version - not upgrade) at over $1300.00 off and Lightroom 2 for only $98.00, also full version. Got the new OnOne Photo Suite for over 200.00 off! Well worth looking into, especially in this economy. Most software is eligible, some is still just reserved for teachers.

This is true. I have a teenage son on the yearbook staff, so he will be using it quite a bit. Especially the InDesign, video editing software and the webpage software.

Also, the version you are getting is a "Educational" version. It will lack a few of the features the full version has. Plus, you cannot upgrade an Education version. (At least that is how it works with the Adobe stuff.)

Not so for at least Lightroom 2 (not sure with any others). I was using the full trial of Lightroom 2, then bought the Academic Superstore package. All I did was use the serial number to "purchase" my trial version and Bob's your uncle!

I did notice the exclusion for commercial work, and the exclusion for upgrades, which both make sense. However, I'm not even close to a pro so I'm not really worried. ;)
