Question I'm Stumped...Help! - 11-21-2008, 04:19 PM

I've been working on a logo and it's all text. It looks clear because you can see colors and shapes through it. There must be a better way to use it than in a psd format. So far if I change it to jpg by flattening it I loose that clear appearance. I wouldn't mind making a brush or some automated thing so I can bring it into photos but I also want to use it on the new website I'm working on. There's two different strings of text. Right now all I know how to do is bring over each string as a layer from the psd file. Does anyone have any ideas on how to handle this easier?

I'm attaching this just as a sample of what the text looks like.

Roy, I'm not sure if you are asking about making a "brush" or retaining the "clear" type. One solution for keeping the clear type (if using photoshop) is to "select all" ...then "copy merged"...and paste. Then when you convert or "flatten" for a .jpg it should retain the "clear" look. Here's a link to a tutorial which includes an "action" for a watermark.

Hope it helps.

Roy, you can place the two text strings into a group, and then bring/copy the group from one PSD file to another. Another option (I have not tested this one) is to save the file that you have developed your signature/watermark to a PNG file format - that should keep the transparency that is lost when you save as a JPEG file. I use the first option for my signature/watermark.

To save transparency it has to be saved as a .gif or .png Editing programs, such as photoshop, give you the option of mapping a certain color to be transparent

John Riddler, I just thought a brush would be an option. I made them before but it didn't work so well for this at least the way I tried it. I appreciate the feedback so far. I should of asked a lot earlier instead of spending so much time trying to figure this out on my own. I'll try the things suggested. Never used a png file. I'll try that too.
