Easy fix to make a white background??

Adjustment layer (take your pick... Levels, curves, etc.) and then apply a mask to leave the subject untouched.

ok...so I want to play too...how come I can't save the file and play??

And if you had an entire roll of these, would you take them into lightroom, play with the first one, and then sync all of them the same? Or would you be able to get the white correct while shooting? I'm not a studio kind of person, so one day if I have to do this, I want to have this ingrained in my brain.

My white backgrounds are white when shot. Unless I want them gray, then I don't light them.

White as shot (about 240,240,240):

Ok next questions ive done this before I know I just went brain dead I added an adj layer levels adj the top slider down to 205 it helped but still pretty grey I added a vector mask with the vector max icon at the bottom of the layers pallette now what ? sorry for bein a photoshop idiot lol

Use the white point eyedropper to set the level. Then use the paint brush to clean up behind the dad's back.
