question on lightroom and dng files... - 12-12-2008, 08:59 AM

does anyone know...if you export dng files from LR - if they contain the edits that you made? i am finding myself with a bunch of files from the new 5d2 which now cannot be editied in LR - so i've been converting them to dng.

i'd like to write out the files as a catalog - for burning to dvd purposes...

so i'm just curious and too lazy to look on the net to find the answer for myself - haha

If I had to guess, I'd say that if you export them as a catalog all your changes will go with the dng's whether you commit your changes to the database or to xmp.

However, if you export an individual file in dng I would not expect any changes to go with it as that would be against the principle of non-destructive editing.

Lightroom 2.2 is supposed to support those 5dmk2 files. LR 2.1 does not. The release for LR 2.2 comes out tomorrow as far as I know.
