This is a follow-up to the image resizing thread.
I have PSE6 and am wanting to resize my photos to 8x10 and was told that instead of using image resize I should use the crop tool options. The only options I have are:
Aspect ratio: No restrictions, Use Photo Ratio, 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, etc.
Width:___ Height:___Resolution:______pixels/inch or pixels/cm
I'm using the aspect ratio 8x10 and also putting 8x10 in the width and height and 300 under resolution with pixels/inch chosen, but when I go to save it, it saves it as 8x10 pixels instead of 2400 pixels and is as tiny as a dot. I don't see any other options under my crop tool so what else can I do?

Did you try selceting 8x10 aspect ratio and sizing the crop window to suit your taste and the photograph? When going from 2x3 (camera aspect ratio) to 8x10 you will loose something. I prefer to select what I will loose with a crop window.
Good luck!

Yes I did and when I clicked the green arrow to confirm it, it went down to the tiniest dot.

Sorry. I'm clueless. I use Lightroom. Everytime I pick the crop window I see the original and whatever crop window I have picked. I can move the window around, resize, etc. When I click the crop tool again, the crop overlay goes away and the cropped image is all I see on the screen.

Any help would be appreciated! | You have to include the units (in.) with the width and height so it knows which you want.

Try selecting 8x10 in the aspect ratio drop down box and then clicking and dragging your mouse on the image to select your crop. You can move your crop selection around and increase/decrease the selection. When you're happy, double click inside the crop area.

Woohoo! That did it....the double clicking inside the crop area kept the cropped picture exactly the way I see it on the screen and not down to a tiny little dot. And when I looked at the image resize box, it's staying at 8x10 and 2400x3000 pixels.
Thank ya'll so much. Something soooo simple. :)
Now another question, if I crop all my edited photos down to 8x10 and burn them on a disc for a customer, what if they decide to have a photo printed at 5x7 or 4x6? Will the photo lab they choose have to decide what to cut off and then the picture won't be what they originally see as an 8x10 on the disc?
And please don't tell me I have to make each one of my edited photos into 3-4 sizes. That would take me forever!

You are cropping to 8X10 pixels instead of 8X10 inches. You need to change the measurement units beside those boxes. To simplify everything you could crop to 8X12 INCHES at 300ppi and let the client crop more for 5X7 or 8X10. Make sure that if they print an 8X10 that nothing important will be lost.
