So if I order from a reputable place (millers, etc) is there a difference in the photos if I crop before I upload vs. after I upload? Of course I'm looking for the easy way out, and want to upload the same photo, use it for both a 5 x 7 and 8 x 10...vs uploading two different photos cropped at those same sizes.

most places will tend to get it right, but why take chances? Unless you are uploading via dial-up, the effort involved is minimal as long as you crop after all of your post-processing is complete.

some places will let you crop a "standard" upload after you upload it as you order it. But then you'll need to make 2 orders.....

If you want to make sure that you get the image you want, crop before you upload. Wolf Camera's standard process is to crop in the middle of the picture unless you tell them otherwise during the upload. At least you get the opportunity. Some budget printers don't give you that.

Guess I wasn't clear enough. I know when I order from Mpix, it allows you the chance to crop and you can crop the way you like. I guess my question is, does it change the quality of the photo in any way if you wait and crop at that point. I understand the chance of an error. But then again, maybe I should just upload two different photos and not worry about any of it??

If the crop is right, and the image is full-res, I don't see it adversely affecting the image quality.
