I thought that was how it was supposed to work and Id rather draw with a rock. lol. The word on the street is that you arent supposed to draw in the air. I was thinking the tablet was just there for looks. Schmexy!
Ha! That is the weirdest thing! If it's wacom, all you need to do install the drivers and plug it in. Bam! Instant tablet. Then you can go into the control panel and change the user settings if you want.

Stop by the pharmacy & get you some advil & a heat pad or a big bag of ice...:o)
You will be quite sore, that you will want to throw your pen. Until you get the hang of it.

I have a real nice, large one, but don't use it. I spent $300 or $400 on it... My computer seems a bit slow and bogs down. I need a g5, I guess.

I tried one of the smaller tablets and I didn't believe that it was any more beneficial to me than a mouse. I know a lot of people will argue with me on that point. However, recently I acquired a Wacom Cintiq 21" and it is absolutely without a doubt, AMAZING. My editing time (opposed to using a mouse of course) has been cut in 1/2. My next goal is to learn to use Corel paint so I can apply some more creative aspects to some photo's.

I debated over another backup camera, new lens or this tablet, and my only regret is that I didn't purchase this tablet sooner.

Below is how I have the tablet configured in my "little" workspace. Space is limited in my 1000 sq-ft home so I have to try to maximize every inch I can.

So Randy, you just "draw" on the computer screen itself??

Renae -

Yes, when you place the pen within 5mm (0.2inch) the cursor jumps to that location Wacom calls it "absolute positioning" and you can use the pen as a paint brush, selection tool, etc. There are shortcut touchkeys to zoom, change brush size, etc. The screen will rotate 90 degrees, and will also lay almost flat on the desk to suit your personal editing needs. Very versatile design. It was expensive though (isn't everything?) but glad I saved up for it.

Renae:
If you didnt pick yours up yet.... there is a 40.00 rebate on the Wacom Intuos3 4x6.
Picked my up a BestBuy yesterday and dropped it on last night. It works like a dream.
199 - 40 rebate = a great deal for a nice table.
The bamboo fun was my other alternative at 99.00.

I love it so far... the only hassle is I am a right side mouse user, but a left handed writer...

Ya, and one of the best parts is being able to rotate it!
I don't use it as my only screen though. It doesn't calibrate as well as my apple monitor.
