I use NN, but I have to admit I don't have a problem with ISO 800 on the D300 any chance we can see the full size original? I am just curious how noisy it is.

i really don't see that big a difference in regards to noise, because the original didn't really have much. the biggest difference in those pics are the richer blacks and sharpening of the NN edited image. i think you'll be fine with your normal workflow, and not worrying about the noise.

Even without seeing your image, I wouldn't worry about iso 800 on the D300. Yes it was daylight, but you were also shooting action. Its easier to fix noise, you cant fix a blurry pic.

Thanks, here is the original plus the original being ran through NN in automatic. To me, I have seen cleaner photos.

Ken, just can't help but give a little gig. If you were shooting Canon, you wouldn't be doing all of this research and batch processing stuff because of ISO 800! :-)

Good luck. I hope it all works out OK for ya.
Mike

NOTE: I use NoiseWare Pro for ISO 3200 and ISO 6400 pics.

couldn't you just use USM to clean this up?

Before you get crazy with 3rd party plugins, I would try an action like April suggests, since as some other folks are saying, 800 isn't that high. Now if it were 3200 you might be concerned, but you can correct any visible noise from 800 ASA in Photoshop itself.

Well, a couple of things for me with the shot after thinking about it, not too much thinking, is that I can only do so much when it's cropped at that distance. If I had done a better job in getting in a better position, I would have been better and I wouldnt have to worry about the 'noise'

I have started to delve more into PS and the USM filter/action is one I have been utilizing.

Again, thanks for the input/assistance.

Ken, again, Aperture has a very good noise reduction feature, and it should do an excellent job with ISO/ASA 800.
