PC vs. Laptop - 03-13-2009, 09:38 AM

I am having trouble with Post Processing... What is Printed at WHCC is not what is seen on my Camera and/or My Laptop. I have recently receive an order and it is DARK.

I have callabrated my Laptop with EYE ONE.....

I was wondering if there is a difference between viewing on Laptops, and PC.

I'm not a techie but the difference should not be PC vs laptop but screen resolution and whether or not it has any other image enhancements extras. Check the resolution on your screen because 600 X 800 is usually the default. You may want to up it to 768 X 1024.

My guess would be that it has more to do with your soft proof setup not matching the WHCC printer profile.

Dark prints appear to be a common problem with "calibrated" laptops.
In general, what looks like a GREAT image on a bright LCD will be too dark when printed.

Since I have no brightness control on my HP laptop, I put it into the dimmer, "Powersave" mode. The prints from my Epson 3800 and commercial labs look darn close to the dimmed screen display.

Make sure your luminance is calibrated as well. LCDs are often hard to gauge. Color calibration is usually good, but luminance can be tricky. I would check the soft proofing like mentioned, but also do some comparisons with brightness to your prints and even eyeball it if necessary.

I know my LCD on my workstation is incredibly bright and even at ZERO on my brightness/backlight control it is still too bright. I have to go into my Nvidia tools for my video card and further lower the brightness.
