Easy Lightroom2 Question - Locking Aspect Ratio - 03-18-2009, 06:27 PM

Please tell me how to lock the aspect ratio for cropping through a collection. I have a couple hundred photos to go through and even though I hit the lock symbol on the cropping panel (or "A" for shortcut) when I right arrow to the next picture it goes back to Original and the lock unlocks.

It's driving me insane! thx.

Select the images in the shoot (CTRL+A); press CTRL+Sync to change the Sync button to AUTOSYNC, then apply your preferred Aspect Ratio to the selected images. Click on CTRL+AUTOSYNC to deactivate the Autosync function.

Now scroll to each individual photo and reposition the crop outline to the way you want.

Another tip; if you turn on the CAPS LOCK button, once you accept the crop for an image by pressing the ENTER key, Lightroom will automatically scroll to the next image.

Found this about aspect ratios if you have to crop to 5x7, 8x01, etc.

Now if I could just get Lightroom to understand square originals. Lightroom always makes horizontals (landscape for the geek Squad) from my square photos. I want verticals (portrait for the G.S.) about haf the time.
