Sick work Tinywater. I love your editing style. The noise is also nice in some of those shots.

Hey Joe

It's easier if you could email us with the picture in mind and then we can tell you more about it. Not exactly sure by what you mean, "what we did to the images". But we use our own presets and a lot of our own actions.

Cool, I thought you may not want to give your secret away. I saw your links via the FM forum. I love your processing, especially those in the Asian wedding. I am trying to get better at Photoshop.

feel free to email us. although it's a little difficult for us to say how we do it, because it all starts with taking the photo itself and not just the processing. you can do the most amazing processing on the crap photo and it will still look like crap. our style has to do largely on the way we see things and capture the image. processing is later. and as far as processing, we use our own presets and actions, inc ombinations.

and even if you sit next to someone to see how they process, you will still get different results because no one can teach you how they see and feel things. everyone's style is different. it's taken us years to get to where we are and develop our style and vision for our photos, processing is just an extension. we don't view the photography and processing as two separate things. it's an extension of the photography, it becomes the final product.

this is not to say that we do not want to give you away our secret. this is to say that even if we show you everything, you will still have different results. we cannot teach you how we see things. even if you shot over our shoulder, your photo and our photo will be different. not worse or better, just different. that's just because each of us is different. my wife and i can sit and process the same photo and her outcome will be different. each photo, each setting, it's all uniquely different and the feel is different because she and i are two different people.

it's very hard when someone asks us how we do things. because of this aspect, we don't exactly know how to answer. when you go to a drawing class, you don't go to draw like the teacher. you go to learn how to draw and how to sharpen your skills. how to be an artist in your own right.

oh and if someone is thinking "well how do you know what to do with the photo?" the answer simply and honestly is that we just do and it comes from the heart. as cheesy as it is. our heart and brains tells us what to do depending on the mood at which the photo was taken. that's why, to us we are more artists than photographers. sorry to give you a fluffy hippie answer guys but that's the honest answer. we wouldn't know how to process someone else's photo because we would have no basis to work off.

for example, you can go to as many jesh workshops as you like to see how he process. you might learn photoshop techniques and tricks. but you will never be able to walk away and process exactly like jesh. because you are your own person and someone's vision cannot be duplicated. if a workshop teacher says, come learn how to be exactly like me, that's BS personally.

we always say, rather than processing and copying someone else's work, or trying to. develop your own style, process the way you do and keep improving it, keep adding to it and keep adding that extra flair and extra you. then that will set you apart. there is no magic pearl of wisdom we can give you. it just comes down to years of practicing, refining and developing your own style and being you. if you have your own unique style and vision, you will be you and no one can copy you.

thanks so much for all your kind comments on our work btw, means a lot to us. i hope that helps!! honestly, we are not evading the question. we just have no other answer when someone asks us how you do that. even if i say i use this action, your photo with that action will still look differently from ours.

in short, it's not just about the processing, it's about the whole product.

Daniel,

I understand what you say about developing your own style and vision. It is true that two of us work on the same picture, following the same instructions, and the results may not be exactly the same. However, there would be more similarities than differences in the results. Otherwise no one would go to the Photoshop classes. I know that people who are good at this spent a lot of time in front of their terminal trying to get it the ways they want it. I don't ask for a magic wand. I am willing to put in my time to develop my own as well. But at this point I don't know how to get there. I was hoping there are folks on this forum can point me to the right direction. Thank you for dropping in the forum and give us some words of encouragement. That would help us to keep on looking for the answers.

Now let's get back to my original question. Do you know how they did this?

I too like the Asian wedding of Andrea and Sam. My 2 fav photos/effect are the ones of the groom and his guys and the bride and her gals in the alley.

The effects look a little like some of what Tricoast does and a Little Orton effect and a little lomo. But how they put it together I have no clue. I can just barely use PS!

very nice processing :D.

That's gonna be a lot of work with layers colors and mixing them together and curves adjustment . Your work is very inspiring for me getting in Post processing.

Wow, that's some excellent work. Processing aside, the composition is excellent. I could mimmick the post but, the composition is the heart of all the photo's.

I really like the style of the group shots, they have a lot of depth.

I know I am late to this thread but it looks like some cross-processing, color balance and some textures were used to create the effect of the photos. Lightroom can achieve these results with ease and maybe some photoshop
