I have been wanting to get more Photoshop training. And I was wondering if anyone on TPF has used the Kelby Training and what is your take on it. Is it worth the money spent?

I've taken some Kelby training classes about Lightroom 2.0, Joe McNally - Using small flashes, and Eddie Tapp - Seeing the Light. I will say this..they are very short and quick classes. Although informative, they are brief and do not go in depth.

On the other hand, I would suggest looking at Lynda.com. I really love their video tutorials! All their video tutorials start at the very beginning as if you were new to any software and walk you through step-by-step. I've seen many of them. And at $25 per month...it was a good deal for me. I used it for three months.

I'm currently signed up with KT and have learned quite a bit from some of the videos. Not real in-depth, but pretty good nonetheless.

After I registered CS4 I got a free month at Lynda.com and thought their stuff was pretty good. I liked KT as well, when I looked at it. I believe you can see a sample at both. Or get 1 month, try each and decide.

I subscribed for a month and quite enjoyed it. However, after a month I had watched all of the videos they had available that I was interested in. I think I may try doing a month at a time every few months to get the new stuff and be able to "refresh" on some of the better videos.

I'm with Adam. I like KT because I can just get one month, no pressure or long term contract. I think it's worth the cost if you have time to do two or three lessons a week.

I love it and so does my dh. He is really into the Dreamweaver and Fireworks stuff for his websites and has learned a lot. Now he is redoing all of his websites. Sigh...

I like the Photography and Photoshop classes. We'll probably stick with it for a couple of months and then take a break and come back in 6 months or so when they have some new stuff.

I've really learned a lot in terms of workflow, shortcuts, things I never knew you could even do, geewhizwow stuff.

You can watch the first 4 lessons for free in any of the tutorials to see if you'll like it. That's what I did and got hooked.

I use both Kelby Training and Lynda intermittently. Kelby is easy to listen to and follow. I think Lynda is a little bit more in depth. Both are good resources, both can be suscribed by the month, and both worth the money. Kelby is a little less expensive.
